Shoppers look at packaging before they read the label. The same product in metallic sits comfortably at a price a white sticker cannot carry.
No foil die, so no tooling cost
The shine is in the film, not in a stamping die. Nothing to make, nothing to store, nothing to pay for before the first piece prints.

One substrate does two jobs. Opaque white printed under a colour blocks the mirror and gives a flat matte field. Leave the ink out and the bare film shows through, so type reads as hot stamping without a foil die.
