A mirror surface moves as the shopper moves. On a shelf of matte white labels, that motion is what earns the second look.
It signals a higher price point
Shoppers look at packaging before they read the label. The same product in metallic sits comfortably at a price a white sticker cannot carry.
No foil die, so no tooling cost
The shine is in the film, not in a stamping die. Nothing to make, nothing to store, nothing to pay for before the first piece prints.

One substrate does two jobs. Opaque white printed under a colour blocks the mirror and gives a flat matte field. Leave the ink out and the bare film shows through, so type reads as hot stamping without a foil die.

White is an opaque layer that blocks the mirror. Anywhere you want metal, leave it out.

Rich black holds density over a reflective substrate. Use a CMYK build.
